Hi, I'm Stephanie.
I didn't come to this work through a business degree or a marketing background. I came to it the same way you did - running an accommodation business and trying to make the numbers work without burning out.
Over twenty years ago, my husband and I bought a dilapidated Victorian villa by the sea - a business that wasn't trading and was in a sorry state.
We thought it would be simple.
It wasn't.
We gave everything we had to turning it into somewhere special - only to find that was the easy part. Making the business work financially was something else entirely. The dream we'd chased became exhausting. We were barely staying afloat.
Then the 2008 recession hit. Bookings stopped. For a while, I thought we'd lose everything.
But that period forced me to see what I'd missed. We'd focused all our energy on creating a great place to stay, but we'd never really learned how to build the business itself.
So I rebuilt it - intentionally this time. Not by chasing more bookings, but by stepping back and putting the business right, piece by piece, in the right order.
It became award-winning. Profitable. And eventually, we sold it at a premium price.
That was the beginning of this work.
What I learned rebuilding that business became the foundation of Thrive - the business-building system I created to help accommodation owners attract more of the right guests, create more profit and gain more freedom.
For the past 16 years, I've worked full-time with owners through every kind of market - booming, struggling, recovering, changing.
